These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and WaveNews ("we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the WaveNews mobile application (com.wavenews.app), website at https://wavenews.app, and all related services (collectively, the "Service").
By downloading, installing, or otherwise accessing the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after any such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
WaveNews is a personalized news aggregation platform that collects and displays article previews from 150+ publicly available RSS feeds published by third-party news organizations (BBC, Reuters, Al Jazeera, CNN, Bloomberg, G1, DW, Le Monde, El País, and others). The Service includes:
WaveNews is an aggregator and display platform, not a news publisher. We do not produce, verify, or editorially control the content of third-party articles.
You must be at least 13 years of age (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction — 16 in certain EU member states) to use the Service. By using WaveNews, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and the term "you" shall include that organization.
Users who are between 13 and the age of majority in their jurisdiction may be required to have a parent or guardian agree to these Terms.
Account creation is not required to use WaveNews. You may browse and read news content without signing in. However, the following features require a signed-in account:
Authentication is performed exclusively via Google Sign-In through Firebase Authentication. We do not offer username/password accounts.
By creating an account, you agree to:
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
WaveNews allows authenticated users to post comments, emoji reactions, and replies ("User Content"). Anonymous posting is not permitted. All User Content is linked to your verified Google account and displayed with your display name and profile photo.
You retain full ownership of all User Content you submit. By posting User Content, you grant WaveNews a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to display, distribute, and transmit your User Content within the Service for the purpose of operating and providing the App to other users. This license terminates when you delete your content or account.
You are solely responsible for your User Content and agree that it will not:
All User Content must be tied to a verified Google account. You may not post content through proxy accounts, bots, or automated means.
Any user may report a comment they believe violates these Terms using the "Report" button available on each comment. Reports are logged in our systems for admin review. We will review reported content and take appropriate action, which may include removal of the content and/or suspension of the offending account.
You may block another user at any time from within the App. Blocking is unilateral: the blocked user is not notified. Upon blocking, the blocked user's comments, reactions, and notifications will no longer be visible to you. You may unblock a user at any time in your settings.
You may delete your own comments at any time. WaveNews reserves the right, but is not obligated, to monitor, edit, or remove any User Content that we determine, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable. Firestore security rules prevent users from deleting others' comments.
We may suspend or terminate your account for repeated violations of these Terms, abusive behavior, fraudulent activity, or other conduct we determine to be harmful to the Service or its users, with or without prior notice.
The articles displayed in WaveNews are sourced from public RSS feeds published by independent third-party news organizations. We have no editorial control over, and are not responsible for, the accuracy, completeness, legality, or reliability of third-party content.
If you are a content publisher and believe your RSS feed is being aggregated in a manner that infringes your rights, please contact us at privacy@wavenews.app with details and we will respond promptly.
You agree not to engage in any of the following:
Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account suspension or termination and, where applicable, referral to law enforcement authorities.
The WaveNews name, logo, app design, UI components, icons, color schemes, 3D globe implementation, and all proprietary software code are the intellectual property of WaveNews and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on your personal devices in accordance with these Terms. You may not:
Third-party content displayed in the App (RSS article titles, excerpts, images) is the intellectual property of the respective publishers and is reproduced solely as permitted by those publishers' public RSS distribution.
You may close your WaveNews account at any time by contacting us at privacy@wavenews.app. Upon account closure, all your personal data will be deleted within 30 days as described in our Privacy Policy — Section 9.
WaveNews reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent or illegal activity, or for any other reason we deem necessary to protect the Service or its users.
Upon termination:
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WaveNews does not warrant that: (a) the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; (b) the information obtained through the Service will be accurate, reliable, or complete; (c) any defects or errors will be corrected; or (d) the Service or the servers that make it available are free of viruses or other harmful components.
Third-party news content is provided by independent publishers and may contain inaccuracies. WaveNews makes no representations regarding the accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of any article or news content displayed in the App.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WAVENEWS AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND LICENSORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
IN JURISDICTIONS WHERE THE LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES IS NOT PERMITTED, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. IN ANY CASE, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY (OR USD $10 IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID ANYTHING).
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless WaveNews and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to:
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada (British Columbia), without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of British Columbia.
Note: Users in the EU retain the right to bring proceedings in the country where they reside or where the alleged damage occurred, pursuant to applicable EU consumer protection law. Brazilian users retain rights under the Consumer Protection Code (CDC — Law No. 8,078/1990) and may seek dispute resolution through PROCON or applicable consumer courts.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where required by law or in our judgment, provide advance notice via the App or email.
By continuing to use the Service after the effective date of any revised Terms, you accept those revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
